Draft2Digital

I haven’t hit publish yet with Draft2Digital, but I’ve heard nothing but good things. I first learned about them on one of Suzan Tisdale’s FB live videos, so I jotted the name down to check them out. I was stressing about trying to figure out how to publish with multiple vendors. Dreading creating multiple accounts for each one. I hate emails. I have worked in an office for the last eleven years, and can’t even imagine how many emails I’ve read and sent during that time.

I can’t state enough how much I hate emails.

So getting them in my personal email box has always been a pet peeve. I get crabby when I open an account somewhere and get bombarded with spammy emails for the next year until I finally get fed up and unsubscribe. I’m dreading doing author newsletters and dealing with email sequencing. I mean, do people really enjoy getting emails from their favorite authors that much?

Maybe I’m just weird.

That’s probably it.

Anyway, back to Draft2Digital.

I created my account with them. Went to watch a few YouTube videos via Self-Publishing with Dale, then watched Kevin Tumlinson’s tutorial.

Everything so far has been super easy. I’m paying someone to do formatting for me, but it really doesn’t look that hard on D2D’s platform. I’ll probably do it myself next time. I was worried about using them for Amazon, because if I ever ended the relationship with D2D, I would have to migrate to Amazon and I’d lose my sales/rankings. I sent them an email about it, and they quickly replied, reassuring me that I could have the accounts separate as long as I wasn’t joining KU or Kindle Select.

I’m learning as I go, but so far I am impressed with their services, and I’m incredibly thankful that someone came up with this idea. I know there are other digital distributors, but I think I’ve found my home here and I quickly become brand loyal to something/someone I like.

It doesn’t hurt that they are based in Oklahoma. As a fellow Okie, how can I possibly go with anyone else?

I’ll happily fork over the 10% (15% of net royalties) to them so I don’t have to deal with so many different accounts and… EMAILS.

The only downside is they do not have Google Play, but I understand they are working on that. Guess I’ll be heading over there next to figure out what I gotta do to get them in the queue of the many things I need to take care of before August 1st.

Changed – Coming August 1st, 2018

It is getting closer to release day, and I’m getting anxious. This will be my first release, and I am so afraid I’m going to screw something up that the stress is for REAL. I will be doing pre-Orders soon, publishing through Draft 2 Digital for all vendors except for Amazon. I don’t want to lose sales/rankings in Amazon, so I will be publishing directly through KDP and KDP Print.

So much to do! Anne at Victory Editing helped me tremendously by finding a cover designer, and I purchased a Pre-Made from Cover Me, Darling LLC. They have the most beautiful covers. I wish I had time to write all the books so I could has (yes, has) all the covers, but I don’t.

Here is a teaser for the cover. Hopefully once formatting is complete I’ll get the short links created and get everything squared away with D2D and the ‘Zon.

And I wouldn’t have made it this far without Anne @ Victory Editing doing significant hand holding. I appreciate her so much!
