Meet Sydney

I am going to take a moment and plug my newsletter. I haven’t done much with it lately. To be honest, the least favorite thing that I can think of doing is setting up an email sequence. But I’ve decided that between books (and WHO knows how long it will be before I can publish another one?) I am going to do a serial story within the newsletter. It will be done monthly, and I already have the story outline in my head. I have Part I & II written. Hopefully the rest of this week will be devoted to fleshing out the story, characters, etc., and getting it down on paper.

That is if I don’t have another meltdown.

I’m becoming prone to those.

I will also upload the story a chapter at a time to Wattpad. If you don’t know what Wattpad is, you can check them out here: Wattpad. The story will be free, but I will send the story out in my newsletter first, and a week later upload to Wattpad.

In other news, if you aren’t following me on Facebook, I have devoted my TS Murphy Author page to Weird Book Week for August 20-24. Every day a different book will be posted that I found weird, but that I loved. There are quite a few weird books that I like, but I managed to narrow it down to five.

Here is a blurb for my newsletter story, which I’m calling Permanent Virgin, because I think it’s fucking funny. Oh, did I mention there will be cursing, and the story is NSFW? I mean, I’ve already said Vagina in everyone’s email, so how bad can it get? Right?

Anyway…

Sydney Jamison is trouble, and she’s got a mean streak. Hence, her court-ordered anger management and counseling sessions that lead her to meet Jett Bonner, who is raising his little sister after the death of their parents.

Jett takes one look at Sydney and decides she’s the girl of his dreams. He’s oddly fascinated by her penchant for wearing clothing adorned with tempting, red cherries, to say nothing of those matching lips. But Sydney has no time for Jett. She’s been burned—scorched, really—by too many guys who say they can handle her kind of crazy only to bail when things get serious.

Only… things get serious, and there’s no sign that Jett is going anywhere. But is Sydney really ready for him to stay?

7 DAYS!

7 days.png

All three people reading this are probably excited. Maybe not as excited as I am, but still, pretty darn excited!

If I can get my print file uploaded on time, I may release a few days early.

I’m heading out of town soon and won’t have access to HSI until I get back, so who knows what is going to happen?!?

I certainly didn’t expect to fall down the stairs yesterday and twist the hell out of my ankle, but there you go. Crutches suck, by the way.

Hopefully nothing is broken. Would be nice if the radiologist got back with me, but I can wiggle my toes, so it’s probably fine.

Anyway, if you haven’t done so yet, come join my Facebook Page & Author group, where I will be doing giveaways once the book is live.

Draft2Digital

I haven’t hit publish yet with Draft2Digital, but I’ve heard nothing but good things. I first learned about them on one of Suzan Tisdale’s FB live videos, so I jotted the name down to check them out. I was stressing about trying to figure out how to publish with multiple vendors. Dreading creating multiple accounts for each one. I hate emails. I have worked in an office for the last eleven years, and can’t even imagine how many emails I’ve read and sent during that time.

I can’t state enough how much I hate emails.

So getting them in my personal email box has always been a pet peeve. I get crabby when I open an account somewhere and get bombarded with spammy emails for the next year until I finally get fed up and unsubscribe. I’m dreading doing author newsletters and dealing with email sequencing. I mean, do people really enjoy getting emails from their favorite authors that much?

Maybe I’m just weird.

That’s probably it.

Anyway, back to Draft2Digital.

I created my account with them. Went to watch a few YouTube videos via Self-Publishing with Dale, then watched Kevin Tumlinson’s tutorial.

Everything so far has been super easy. I’m paying someone to do formatting for me, but it really doesn’t look that hard on D2D’s platform. I’ll probably do it myself next time. I was worried about using them for Amazon, because if I ever ended the relationship with D2D, I would have to migrate to Amazon and I’d lose my sales/rankings. I sent them an email about it, and they quickly replied, reassuring me that I could have the accounts separate as long as I wasn’t joining KU or Kindle Select.

I’m learning as I go, but so far I am impressed with their services, and I’m incredibly thankful that someone came up with this idea. I know there are other digital distributors, but I think I’ve found my home here and I quickly become brand loyal to something/someone I like.

It doesn’t hurt that they are based in Oklahoma. As a fellow Okie, how can I possibly go with anyone else?

I’ll happily fork over the 10% (15% of net royalties) to them so I don’t have to deal with so many different accounts and… EMAILS.

The only downside is they do not have Google Play, but I understand they are working on that. Guess I’ll be heading over there next to figure out what I gotta do to get them in the queue of the many things I need to take care of before August 1st.

Changed – Coming August 1st, 2018

It is getting closer to release day, and I’m getting anxious. This will be my first release, and I am so afraid I’m going to screw something up that the stress is for REAL. I will be doing pre-Orders soon, publishing through Draft 2 Digital for all vendors except for Amazon. I don’t want to lose sales/rankings in Amazon, so I will be publishing directly through KDP and KDP Print.

So much to do! Anne at Victory Editing helped me tremendously by finding a cover designer, and I purchased a Pre-Made from Cover Me, Darling LLC. They have the most beautiful covers. I wish I had time to write all the books so I could has (yes, has) all the covers, but I don’t.

Here is a teaser for the cover. Hopefully once formatting is complete I’ll get the short links created and get everything squared away with D2D and the ‘Zon.

And I wouldn’t have made it this far without Anne @ Victory Editing doing significant hand holding. I appreciate her so much!
